2016 NISSAN GTR - "GODZILLA"

2016 Nissan GTR - "Godzilla"

There are fast cars, and then there are restorations of the soul. This 3,500-hour build isn't just a GTR, it’s a masterclass in patience.

At Shift Culture, we don’t believe in "good enough." When this 2016 Nissan GTR Black Edition rolled into our Fort Pierce facility, we knew we weren't just building another widebody R35 to park at a show; we were building a legend. We call it "Godzilla," not because it's a monster, but because it dominates the landscape. This project was an exercise in obsession—spending 3,500 man-hours to perfect the gap between "modified" and "masterpiece."

The first thing that hits you is the width. We started with the iconic Liberty Walk (LB Walk) Carbon Fiber Widebody kit, but simply bolting it on wasn't the mission. Our fabrication team performed extensive custom metalwork to blend the aggressive arches into the factory lines, creating a silhouette that looks like it was forged, not assembled. Draped in a custom "Liquid Metal" paint formulation and topped with a carbon fiber hood featuring a ghosted "Godzilla" inlay, this car changes character every time the Florida sun hits the curves.

Stance is everything in our culture. To ground this beast, we commissioned a 1-of-1 set of Cooke Forged 3-Piece Wheels, with barrels painted to match the bodywork. Through the spokes, you can catch the custom-painted calipers—a detail you’ll definitely notice when the Custom Air Ride System drops the frame to the floor at our next "Street Dreams" block party.

Inside, the experience is just as loud as the exterior. We swapped the factory seats for Custom Carbon Fiber Recaro Buckets, upholstered in a fabric unique to this chassis. And because a drive down A1A needs a soundtrack, we integrated a full JL Audio System that cuts through the exhaust note with concert-hall clarity. We kept the legendary VR38 engine internally stock for bulletproof reliability but opened up its lungs with upgraded intercoolers, a full exhaust system, and a custom tune. The result? A 1000hp-capable look with daily-driver reliability.

Is this car still drivable with the widebody?

Absolutely. Unlike many show cars, we maintained full suspension geometry and drivability. The air ride allows for varying ride heights, so you can cruise the highway comfortably and slam it when you park.

How long does a build like this take?

This specific project logged over 3,500 man-hours. The majority of that time was dedicated to body fabrication and paint prep to ensure a flawless "liquid" finish.
